Why giving away freedoms won't work

You cannot give away liberties to stop threat of terrorism.
Liberties once lost is very hard to get back.

Stalin i am sure used the same argument when he took away liberties...its just for your safety we are doing it...to protect you against capitalist taking way your rights....errr by sending those who point out problems to the gulag...yes that's it.

Similarly in Saudi Arabia they are protecting women's right by not allowing them to go out by themselves etc... yeah woman you are protected inside the house of your family...you are protected to not do anything that may interest you as an individual.

Similarly now...we have for your own protection we'll keep an eye secretly on what you are reading or what you do or where your grandmother went yesterday....and shoot whoever randomly whenever you behave suspiciously....So why don't you just walk straight from home to work and back every day ...and give us if possible that in writing for your own security....ahem Long live Freedom ! Stalinism has been defeated...nothing for you to fear here....right ?!
